Buying property in any State can be a daunting and confusing prospect as all States have their way of doing things. Some require attorneys to draft contract, some allow Realtor's to fill blanks in prepared contracts, some require attorneys to close and others allow Title companies to close. The contracts differ immensely too. Some contracts allow the buyer a "free" look and the ability to walk away if they don't like what they see, while others commit the buyer as soon as they sign.

It's not surprising that many buyers are confused before they start as many only have experience of buying in their own State. Florida not only is different from other states, but the county in Florida where the property is located also has it's own set of confusing differences, customs and practices too.

You can find some really nice homes on line that look just perfect but if its not in a community that has a resort style pool that serves drinks during the day and that's important to you, then its not so perfect and wasting your time.

So first ask yourself, are you a golfer who wants to play 5 times a week at a private golf club or happy to play occasionally on public courses? Do you want to go to the beach regularly or prefer to relax around resort style pool all day where you can get drinks and lunch while there too?

Do you want to go out sampling different restaurants most nights, visit the community bar and grill where you get to know other regulars or mostly prefer to cook yourself and eat at home? Do you want an active lifestyle in a community that has Kayaking, walking or cycling paths, organised activities such as boccie, tennis, yoga or a well equipped fitness center or do you want a relaxed lifestyle?

Once you know the type of lifestyle you want, then that's the time to start looking at homes or condos in a community that can give you that lifestyle.
